Too Good to be True

20 Mar

I love seeing God’s hand weave His beautiful threads through the tapestry of my life!

Morning reading from Mark 16:9-20 & Luke 1:1-13. Jesus rebuked the disciples because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.
Devotional thought – the disciples thought those stories were “too good to be true” (even though it was prophecy fulfilled). (from the Everyday devotional, Mrs. Donna Mullins)
My thought – absolutely right! God IS too good to be true – we just can’t fathom Him.

and then came the rest of my morning!

Back up a little.
Yesterday spontaneous plans came up that allowed the boys to be at someone’s house this morning. Next, a scheduled evaluation of a homeschooler fell through. WOW – suddenly an open morning! Woo Hoo – it’s gold to a home-schooling mom!! What to do?! What to do?!

Back up even farther – a few months ago.
My husband and I have been working on creating Bible Study journals (actually that part of the story has been on-going for a few years now!) for middle schoolers. He makes ’em look great!  A friend in our life group saw them, got excited, and told me I should take them to Homelink, a local home-school organization. I asked my friend to make the initial contact. She did, and, along with some others, encouraged me to contact Homelink about teaching the journals in their classes. Emailed right away.
Nothing.     Waited…waiting…Pondering…..

Do I email again? Do I call? Is that being pushy?
Where’s the line between doing what I need to do to be prepared and letting God do His thing?
Every time I try something nothing happens.
Everytime nothing is going on, God does something.
Did I say the right thing in the email?
Was I unwilling to sacrifice?
How can I meet her at Homelink without the boys?

Back to yesterday.
I really felt God cleared the calendar so I could go in face to face and meet the director of Homelink – cold turkey. That’s all – just put a face with the name, see if we can maybe get together and possibly chat about maybe doing something at some point at Homelink. Emailed last night so hopefully she’s not blindsided by this crazy stranger walking in! 🙂

ENTER GOD – it’s too good to be true.

This morning.
Contacted 2 friends to pray, and was able to pray with one on the way in. The prayer was for God to either swing the doors wide open, or have everything come crashing down in a heap – clarity either way. And for the right response on my part either way. (Oh I kept praying about that crashing heap response as I drove, let me tell you!) Here are the answers:

  1. Miracle #1 – Met the director right away – a miracle since we’d never met each other ever before!
  2. Miracle #2 – After a brief conversation she took out her calendar and said, “We’ve got a slot here that would work”
  3. Miracle #3 – I could actually respond intelligently without my mouth hanging open!
  4. Miracle #4 – I saw one of my friends, who’s been praying for this project. She usually doesn’t come in, of course!!
  5. Miracle #5 – I actually listened to God this morning and stopped to read my devotional before I left. I had thought about just doing it when I got home since I knew I’d have a quiet, empty house.

If I hadn’t read, I wouldn’t have been prepared for God’s work this morning,
because, as I walked out of that building, my 1st though was,
“God, You are Too Good to be True!”

God so often orchestrates in our days… I love it when I am clear headed enough to SEE and recognize His hand as it happens. 🙂 I am very excited for you, Michelle!

You are right. God does have a Word for us… I have been slack in my Bible reading lately and it shows. Thank you for sharing your day- it encourages me!

Hey Marsha! Thanks for visiting and thanks so much for your encouragement. You made me smile this morning! I agree with you – I love being clear headed enough to see those threads. I appreciate your testimony of choosing to see His threads during a rough time. You’ve been an inspiration to me and many! Have a blessed day 🙂

Hi Michelle, I homeschooled my son for five years and loved it! I enjoyed this post of how God worked in your life due to your obedience to seeking His will. Thanks for sharing. I’m visiting from Shanda’s blog hop.
