little…it’s getting louder!

29 Apr

So, are you dying to read this??
Been waiting with bated breath since my little teaser??

I’m so excited I can’t stand it!
I just love it when God shows me things!
I think it’s the neatest thing in the world. It gives me such joy!
I want that for everyone! There’s nothing better, in my opinion!

If you’ve been following my blog, you know that God has been “schoolin” me on the subject of little. (If you want to catch up, just read little…its big and little teaser.) Well, here’s what’s been happening lately.

Saturday – more thoughts on little in my quiet time. My Bible reading had the stories of the lost sheep and coin – after I’d posted “little…it’s big”! My prayer: “God, continue the purifying and refining process!” Then came Sunday.

WHAM-O AGAIN!!
God brought it to me at church!
Poor Tim probably thought I was loosing my marbles!
I laughed out loud and whispered “YES!” as God brought point. after. point. home to me.
(I don’t think I was tooo distracting to those around me :-))

1st – Worship songs.    Singing along with gusto.   Raising my hands.   Praising God.    Feelin’ good.
Till we started to sing “You use the weak to lead the strong.” hmmm. Then “Your grace is enough. Your grace is enough. Your grace is enough for me.”   1st WHAM-O: God asked me, “Really? Is My grace enough?”

I had to sit down! Yes, SIT. RIGHT. DOWN – in the middle of worship!
And I had to choose!
“Yes, Lord, Your grace is enough for me. Totally – nothing else.
Not publishing journals.
Not being “successful”.
You.
You. Are. Enough.
And I Choose That Today.”

But God wasn’t finished.

2nd – Message: 2 Kings 5 – the story of Naaman, who was healed of his leprosy. WHAM-O #2!! God met me again through His Word!! I could write forever on what God showed me! But here are a few of the bullet points, courtesy of Tom Mullins, our founding pastor. (click the link if you want to listen to the message)

  • God is always working even behind the scenes
  • Naaman had to battle his logic. Logic said go to the most powerful person in the land (the king) for what he wanted, but that wasn’t God’s plan. The king couldn’t help Naaman at all.
  • Naaman had to battle through the natural to get to the supernatural of what God wanted to do
  • Naaman had expectations of how he wanted God to work – with pomp & circumstance – BIG!
  • A servant girl told him where to go, and his servant encouraged him to keep dipping
  • Naaman was willing to do the BIG things, but not the small
  • THE KICKER for me – when I put my expectations on God I actually am limiting HIs work in my life! Because Naaman expected God to heal the way Naaman wanted, he initially wasn’t willing to do what God said, which kept the healing from taking place.

What a day! God answered my prayer about the refining process. And there’s even more to the story!!! But, because they say a good blog shouldn’t be tooo lengthy, and because I’m in the habit of reading aloud to the boys and stopping at a super exciting point… you’ll have to wait for the rest of the story. 🙂 It’s gonna be called little…it’s precious. Coming soon, I promise!

I hope you’re blessed!
And I hope you’re taking time to read God’s Word.
He’ll meet with you, I promise!
What’s He been showing you lately?

This is fantastic! I am so excited for you. (and for us) I love the story of Naaman, too. I always thought it was amazing that God used a little girl to save that BIG man’s life. Over and over God shows us that the little things are important to him. I am slowly, slowly going through John, carefully digging out treasures. Today, I lingered on the wheat kernel needing to die to grow. There is another little thing God used to teach me a big lesson. I can’t wait to share it this week!

    Hi Michelle,
Wow! I love when God works like this! (Sometimes I need Him to be REALLY obvious.) Thank you for writing this post. I wonder if God led you to my blog today…I came over here after reading the comment you left…and your kicker point really hit home with me! “when I put my expectations on God I actually am limiting HIs work in my life!” Oh boy, I think I’ve been doing that!” I really needed this today, thank you! I’m signing up to follow via email so I won’t miss your next post.
    God bless,
    Laura

Thanks so much, Laura! You really encouraged me. God has been super obvious this week – 5 days in a row. That got my attention!! 🙂 I’ve just got to put a few pictures in the next post and it’ll be ready.

I definitely believe God led me to your blog today! It was an encouragement. Blessings to you!

Our God is amazing! I love reading of how God meets His children. And the ripples. God blessed you with His “wham-os.” And in the ripple, I (and many others) are blessed by the retelling. I’ll be looking forward to more.

What a sweet thought to think about the ripples! I like the picture I see of throwing that rock into the lake. The initial WHAM (my experience), but then the concentric circles that flow out of that. What an encouraging thing for me to think about this morning. Thanks, Pamela!! 🙂

We are neighbors at Laura’s lovely place today. So nice to meet you. Love it when God speaks to us so clearly this way. Rejoicing with you in the way He loves us enough to give us just what we need, when we need it.

I love the way God’s Word is new and fresh every time we open it. And I love how He streams a theme through our days… like “little.” I often speak on the power of the small things… love the way our HUGE GOD made Himself small to work out the BIGGEST rescue plan EVER! Blessings on your week. I’m going to check out that story of Namaan again!

I’ve been battling this mindset too, Michelle. I often “figure out” how God should do something in my life and get angry with him when he doesn’t do it “my way!” haha! This was a “Wham-O” reminder for me today! Thanks for your great insights!

How neat, Beth! Glad to share a Wham-o moment with you! Blessings to you. I appreciate your comments. 🙂

It’s so wonderful when we really stop and listen to him, and then rest in the knowing HE is all we need. His grace is enough… always.
