– parents who have a Bible Study with the boys while we’re away. Mom did a study of Philippians 4:8 that they worked on for a few days. Now everyone knows where I get it! 🙂
– the chance to get away for a few days with Tim & celebrate our 20th anniversary.
– safety as we traveled to & from our getaway
– thankful that the fire in Shenendoah National Park didn’t hinder any of our activities
– celebrating July 4th with family & watching fireworks. I LOVE fireworks! This time we had the added fun of watching the firemen actually put out fires! Some of the embers drifted down onto the grass and ignited it.
– a great conversation with Shonda and direction for homeschooling next year
– home sweet home
– the weather! I know I keep saying this, but really – Tim & I actually went out to the park and sat there in the shade enjoying the breeze. We pinched ourselves. Is this really July in South Florida?! unbelievable!! We weren’t melting and didn’t start sweating the minute we opened the door. YEA! 🙂
– specific direction in answered prayer about whether or not to run. Thunder made that a definitive “no.”
– God held back the rain so we could have a good bye party for the Woerners. It rained before and after, but not during!,
– and He gave us a breeze so us moms could chat in comfort 🙂
– and He sold 3 journals at that table!! – unbelievable. I had just prayed that morning that God would do something so big it would be only something He could do. John Maxwell had encouraged us to do that in a sermon a few weeks ago.
– that evening a potential job opportunity for the boys came up. It’s just a potential, but still, on the heels of that prayer, it was pretty cool!
– that good friends who move, at least move either en-route to my parents’ house (so we can stop there & see them as we travel), or 30 minutes from my parents (so we can see them when we visit my parents)!
– lessons in God’s sovereignty. This is one I’m choosing to see as a blessing. Not one I’m jumping up and down about! I missed “A Day About Books” with John Maxwell while we were on vacation. Great time for me to practice what I preach.
– parents who pray for us and with us, and ask for specific prayer requests
– a special lunch out with Mom, Auntie, and Honey. 3 generations of girls together.
Family twice over – by blood and by His Blood! Priceless!
– friends who call and know we can pray with each other
– boys & their friends praying for my friend’s dad who is ill and not a believer
– seeing dolphins at the beach
– being able to encourage sisters in Christ as we run together
– an iced coffee surprise from Starbucks & a friend who rode to the Amazing event with me
– the AMAZING women’s event at Christ Fellowship with Christine Caine
– another blessing I have to choose to see as a blessing: being pushed beyond my comfort zone.
– seeing deer walking through the place we stayed while in VA
– watching 2 fawns run and play while sitting on the deck at our get-away
– sitting on the deck at our get-away – having time to be quiet & having time in God’s Word
– hiking to waterfalls on our get-away. The picture (of course!) doesn’t do it justice. They were WAY down there! This is the 2nd hike we took.
– driving Skyline Drive & drinking in the mountains on our get-away
– great conversation on our get-away
– working through His Needs, Her Needs
– an iced coffee treat at Dunkin’ Donuts & the chance to chat with a friend
– Tim getting me a Starbucks treat!
– the boys doing work at the house. Even doing some jobs together and having fun doing it!
– getting Science planned for the year. Yes, I really do enjoy lesson planning! It was one of my favorite parts of teaching in the classroom
– clear direction on curriculum for next year
– finding an evaluator for the boys after our regular one couldn’t do it this year
– unexpected refunds!
– Michael being on the Cowboy football team again this year. No new purchases of practice jerseys, etc!
– And part of my new TX gear includes a Cowboy hat – so I can REPRESENT at Michael’s games!! Yea 🙂
– Even though it was a rough football season for Nathan last year, God used that to give Nathan direction in his life. Now, instead of having football as his life ambition, Nathan is looking elsewhere, possibly “full-time” ministry. (Although we’ve told all the boys they will be in full-time ministry, no matter what their vocation!)
– Having a friend’s son called into ministry during Belle Glade. That opened the way for Nathan to realize God can and does call at a young age. I think that’s helped Nathan become more confident
– Youth pastor who invests time and energy into the next generation, and helps them see their potential!
– A chance for Nathan, as he was playing drums for middle school services, to trust God yet again as the drum seat broke after the 1st song Sunday morning! He improvised during the 2nd song & stood up for the 3rd.
- Allans helping Nathan improvise by getting chairs.
– That Ben was able to take Nathan home after worship 1st service so Nathan could get his own drum seat for the next 2 services! I’m so thankful Nathan has older guys in his life who can help him out!
– that we live close enough to church for #262 to happen! 🙂
– drum lesson already scheduled before Nathan knew what songs he would play for the weekend. When he got the list he came in to say, “Mom, I need to get with Mr. Dupree.” I said, “Already scheduled!” 🙂
– Amazing display of God’s creativity and majesty at football practice
– that we could use Dad’s (& Mom’s) convertible during our get-away 🙂
