What a weekend!
It began Friday morning with a sweet time of prayer. 3 friends and I met together to pray for our country and each other. God met with us, and it was a great start to the day!
Friday night was a “sleepover.”
Michael & David dragged sleeping bags, blankets, and pillows into our room.
After they finally settled down, we turned out the lights and played “Rememberies” – the “little-boy word” one of the boys used instead of “Memories”.
David said, “That was sooo long ago I don’t know if it was a dream or not.”
He’s 9 people! N.I.N.E!!
I’m glad the boys were on the floor, cuz our bed was shaking with silent laughter!
Lots of treasured moments in that conversation.
Saturday night = Family Fun Night! We played Kick The Can, and then snuggled up on the couch to watch a Pooh movie, followed by cake-eating. Before bed Tim joined in the wrestling match (which seems to be a more and more common occurrence!). Lots of Loud Laughter! Made me smile. 🙂
Saved the best for last. Sunday morning – early early! – we all got up to watch the last of the Orionid meteor shower. What a special time, all 5 of us lying flat on our backs snuggled under blankets looking up at the sky! We appreciated the cool air, and were amazed by God’s display in the Heavens. Passages of Scripture that the boys had memorized came back to us:
When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him?
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
For me it was more special since I had specifically prayed that we’d be able to see the meteors as a family. Some of the boys had never seen any, and the timing can be dicey trying to see these things. More treasured memories of conversation, giggling, amazement, and God!
When we came inside, we drank hot chocolate and watched Louie Giglio share some of the majesty of space declaring God’s glory! My heart was full as I considered such a complete, amazing, God – Beyond the huge vastness of space, yet caring enough for each individual so that He knows not just my name, but the number of hairs on my head! Infinitely big and small at the same time! We had church before we ever left the house!
Thank you, God, for such an amazing weekend!
Watch the whole video. It’s worth it! 🙂
