Perspective

11 Jul

Uncle Sam
2 days shy of 92 years old
Soccer player
Leg-puller
Italian connoisseur
Husband of 71 years

He went into ICU a few weeks ago with lung complications.
He got better and went to rehab.
We visited him last week.
He was still the jokester…
just a little slower

Uncle Sam & boys

Had to go back into ICU a few days ago.
Aunt Dee & I talked yesterday
praying for wisdom –
should she go home or stay at the hospital…
praying for healing
“God we know You can ultimately heal Uncle Sam.
We pray that You will heal him,
that he’d be able to skip the rehab and go right home”

And God said yes.

Just not the home we were expecting.
And the reality of eternity
and God’s perspective of what’s real
are just a little clearer today
even through the tears.

And Nathan said, “I didn’t get to say goodbye, but I will get to say Hello”

Aw, Michelle, so sorry for your loss. I am rejoicing with you all, though, for the day you DO get to say “hello” again. So thankful that we do have that hope in Jesus!

I am so sorry for your heartbreak…he sounds like a truly wonderful man. How blessed to have had him in your lives for so many years!! That is a rare gift! Sounds like the best thing is that you didn’t lose him…you know where he is and will join him there someday. May you be comforted by God’s Own Presence and Peace and be able to Joy in the many years of memories together with those who love him. May you be a huge blessing to Aunt Dee who will need you all more than ever. HUGS-P

Thank you for sharing this story. A story that shows how God see the bigger picture, and answer our prayers, even though it isn’t always the answer we would like…I am so sorry for your loss. How gracefully of you to see it the way you describe here, and I pray as well that you will be comforted in your sorrow, and that you will be a blessing to those around you.

    Bless you and your family.
